Our Pool Our wheelchair accessible swimming pool is 25 metres long and is maintained between 30 and 31°C, making it ideal for very young, old or those with health conditions as they can be temperature sensitive. Our swimming pool has full ramped access, making it wheelchair accessible removing the need for swimming pool hoists and we also have speciality swimming pool wheelchairs which are available to use for our disabled members. Carers can use the facility with the person they are caring for but must remain in a supporting role and be within a close distance. The swimming pool is approved as a ‘Baby Friendly Pool’ and we run regular parent and baby swimming lessons. We also offer swimming lessons for adults and children, plus swimming for disabled people with both group and one to one swimming lessons. Aqua classes run throughout the week with sessions to help burn fat, tone muscles and we also offer specialist pool based exercise for disabled customers. Please note: Two children under the age of eight years old must be supervised by a parent or an adult over sixteen in the water at all times when using the swimming pool. Outdoor clothing is not permitted on the poolside. Shoes must be removed before entering the changing rooms. Viewing areas are available from our swimming pool balcony, which can be accessed from the Basilian Café. Crutches are not permitted on poolside. Walking frames are provided for members to use free of charge. There is no extra charge for carers unless they are using the facility for their own personal use. They must also remain in a supporting role and be within a close distance. Photographic, video equipment and mobile phone cameras are NOT permitted. We aim to maintain our pool air temperature between 25 and 30 degrees Celsuis, however please be advised that the minimum temperature may be lower during the winter months.
