IMPORTANT- Pool opening Delay 13.06.2021 Dear membersWe are pleased to tell you that the contractors arrived on site Thursday and aim to be finished at the latest on Tuesday next week, but hopefully this Sunday. We have reverted to our pool timetable from Monday 21st June and will open up the additional spaces in the pool once the work is fully complete.I want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone for their patience and we will be keeping a close eye on the guidance changes once the government announce any changes to the national restrictions. Thank youDean TearleCentre Manager ________________________________________________________________ 19.05.2021 Dear members Our contractor is on site this week carrying out some of the tile work however they have faced further delays in the grout being used. This is partly down to it being shipped from the EU and is not likely to arrive at Aspire until 7th June. In the meantime, we have increased the lane capacity to 5 and replaced some of the lane swim times for open swims to allow for more people to swim. We know this is not welcome news but due to the specialist nature of the product used there is nothing we can do but wait for the delivery. We have been assured by our contractor that as soon as the delivery does arrive, additional staff will be directed here to speed up the process. I would like to remind all members to cancel their swim session in advance if they are unable to make it so that other members can book, as well as remind you that classes are now taking place in the studio, hall and pool as well as on Zoom. If you feel that as a result of the restricted access you are unable to make full use of your membership please email [email protected] Kind regards Dean Tearle Centre Manager ________________________________________________________________ 05.05.2021 Dear members This morning we received an email from our contractor saying that the remaining product they are using to grout the pool will not arrive until Monday 17th May. This was due to arrive today. The team are in this week and should be able to have 2 lanes ready for use as well as the shallow end, and hopefully the ramp. We therefore need to cancel any open swim bookings unless members are happy to use the shallow end only where the work is finished. If you have a slow, medium or fast lane booked in lane 1 or 2, it is still ok to swim. When the team are on site from the 17th the pool can remain open whilst they carry out the remaining work. We apologise for the inconvenience this is causing and the delay is out of our control. As soon as we are able to release more swimming slots we will. Kind regards Dean Tearle Centre Manager ________________________________________________________________ 30.04.2021 Dear members We are writing to give an update on the swimming pool. The work of tiling the pool is almost complete and the dive team are now finishing off the grouting. We will therefore be opening the swimming pool on Monday 10th May. Bookings will be available from Tuesday 4th May 2021. Direct debit payments will be taking accordingly in reflection of the opening day. We would like to thank you for your understanding during this time and again I would like to remind everyone that the gym is open for bookings, virtual classes are still going ahead with studio and Aqua classes starting back from 17th May if the government permit it and badminton / table tennis table courts are available for people from the same household to play. Kind Regards Dean Tearle Centre manager ___________________________________________________________________ 19.04.2021 Dear members We are writing to give an update on the swimming pool. The initial work of tiling the shallow end and a large section of the deep end is almost complete and the dive team are now finishing off the grouting. On Friday they carried out a test of the rest of the pool and have found several areas that have potential to also lift up. What we don’t want to do is open the pool next week and then risk having to close again for more repairs, or risk opening and members cutting their feet on tiles whilst swimming. There is also the risk that the dive team leave site and are not able to return quickly and we would have to wait (they are one of 2 companies in the UK that carry out this kind of work) so we have taken the difficult decision to go ahead and repair the whole of the swimming pool floor. Whilst this will add another 2 weeks on to the closure, we know that by doing this, it will protect the long term future of the swimming pool and enable us to provide a safe swimming environment for everybody. We hope that you will understand our decision and again I would like to remind everyone that the gym is open for bookings, virtual classes are still going ahead and badminton / table tennis table courts are available for people from the same household to play. Please remember to keep an eye on our website and the news section of our app for the latest information. Kind regards Dean Tearle Centre manager _____________________________________________________________________ 06.04.2021 Dear Member Last week whilst carrying out a check of the swimming pool in preparation for opening we discovered that some of the pool tiles had blown. We managed to arrange for a dive team to survey and repairs will begin this Friday. The work is expected to take 7 days. We therefore have to delay opening the swimming pool until Monday 19th April. The gym will be open from Monday 12th April at our usual opening times, our virtual fitness classes will still be taking place and badminton will be available for people from the same household to book. Swimming lessons will start back on Monday 19th April. We will be running our direct debits this week which will be the pro-rata payment from opening on 19th April (note we are not charging anyone for the period 12th - 18th April). *Please note that when booking a gym session online, one booking slot is for an hour. We expect that classes will be able to go ahead in the Dance studio when the government announce Step 3 (earliest date of 17th May).
